Costa Rica Mission Trip '24: Update #2

Today was a mix of hard work, unexpected challenges, and powerful reminders of God’s presence. We started the day by building bunk beds for local families, packing supplies, and preparing for Saturday’s big event. One of the most memorable moments was visiting the home of a local family. We built a bunk bed for the four children and prayed over the family, asking for God’s blessings and protection. It was a simple act, but it felt like we were giving them more than just some beds, sharing with them a reminder that they’re cared for.

The rain poured down heavily today, making the streets even more difficult to navigate. It was a physical reminder of the challenges this community faces daily, not just the poverty but the spiritual struggles as well. The darkness here is palpable, and the enemy’s grasp on this area is strong. We stayed grounded in prayer, knowing that our God is stronger! He faithfully guided us through the day, even when things didn’t go according to schedule.

We also met Sadie, a key community leader, whose life is a testimony to God’s mercy, love, and power to transform. Her story was a showcases the incredible impact of faith and God’s grace despite the challenges in this community.

It’s clear that God has brought together each person this team for a reason. Everyone is serving with open hearts, ready to be used by Him. As we prepare for the next few days and the big event on Saturday, we’re leaning into His timing and trusting that He will continue to lead the way. —Andy Vara
